Sunday, April 21, known Atlanta rapper TI helped to assist 23 people to bail out of the Dekalb County Jail in Georgia. At his side was Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and Scrapp Deleon (from Love & Hip Hop). The released were all non-violent offenders; 16 men and 7 women.

“It’s almost like finally meeting the good Samaritan – somebody who you don’t know that you didn’t see coming,” senior Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant said about the program recipients. “They’re appreciative to be able to press the refresh button.”

The church made it a mission to raise $40,000 during Lent in order to do this and surpassed its goal to then reach $120,000. Fortunately, the “Bail Out” program will also connect each recipient with a certified mentor for weekly check-ins. A portion of the donations will be used to establish college savings for any kids of the former inmates.

Let’s be sure to give TI, Scrapp, Bryant and the members of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church their flowers now – this is AWESOME!
