The legendary fashion designed known most for her handbags has passed away at the age of 55. Spade was found in her home hanging by her housekeeper with a suicide note found at the scene. Spade spoke of her daughter and husband in the note.
Continuing on her legacy, since she sold 56% her brand in 1999 and its gone through a few more transitions, she has been on the forefront of the brand for a while although it is her name.
Kate Spade New York submitted a statement to CNN that read:
“Although Kate has not been affiliated with the brand for more than a decade, she and her husband and creative partner, Andy, were the founders of our beloved brand,” the statement said. “Kate will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with Andy and the entire Spade family at this time.”
