The homegoing celebration for the life of rapper and philanthropist Nipsey Hussle was announced by the family. Tickets were available for purchase by California residents on today, Tuesday April 9, 2019 and sold out within minutes.

The doors to Staples Center will open at 8 a.m. Thursday in advance of the 10 a.m. ceremony.
Early arrival is suggested and guests will be subject to a metal-detector search screening along with other precautions. Read more on those here.

The suspect in custody, Eric Ronald Holder Jr. pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, along with two counts of attempted murder. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa Sullivan ordered Holder to be jailed in lieu of $5 million bail while awaiting his next court appearance May 10, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to allow the case against him to proceed to trial [Fox 10 San Deigo News].

The internet still is in shock of Hussle’s passing and many have promised to continue his legacy of owner/entrepreneurship. Nipsey was a strong advocate for ‘buying back the block’ as he helped to renovate a Mid-City roller rink, redeveloped a strip mall where his store lived Marathon Clothing, where he was fatally shot.
