Hosted by Katy Perry on Sunday night, the Billboard Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Areas in Las Vegas. Katy opened the show with a tribute to the fallen victims of the most recent school shooting in Texas:
“I’m a Texas girl and my home state has had so much heartbreak over this past year. And once again, y’all, we’re grieving for more kids that have died for just no reason at all,” Clarkson said.
Janet Jackson took home the icon award and graced the stage for the first time in 9 years performing some of the many hits that she has.
Eric Sheeran went home with achieving the most awards followed by Kendrick Lamar. The two shared 15 nominations for the night.
